It has been almost two weeks since our 2023 production of Jekyll and Hyde finished. It takes a huge team to put together a production of that calibre and there are so many thank yous to make. Thank you to the cast, crew, orchestra, our helpers, our production team and also to all the patrons who came along and supported. To put on such a unique show and receive such support and amazing feedback from our audiences. CHARLEY'S AUNT by Brandon ThomasTo be directed by Kylie SinclairJoin the Warragul Theatre Company on their next dramatic adventure! THE TEAMKylie Sinclair - DirectorMichelle Carrigy - Production ManagerFlynn Francis - Assistant DirectorKeegan Just - Set DesignLeane Gooding - Costume CoordinationAlyssa Fritzlaff - MarketingSHOW DATES 20th Oct to 22nd Oct at West Gippsland Arts CentreINFORMATION NIGHT Tuesday June 13th, 7pm @ Warragul Regional College Drama RoomAUDITIONS Tuesday June 20th, 7pm onwards @ Warragul Regional College Drama Room with call-backs on Sunday June 25th (if required) Audition Bookings open Tuesday 13th June 10pm via trybookings https://www.trybooking.com/CIXDNThis classic farce is set in Oxford during the 1890s. Charley’s Aunt tells the story of Jack and Charley, two Oxford University students who are hopelessly in love with two young women, Kitty and Amy. Charley gets word that his rich widowed aunt from Brazil – Donna Lucia Alvadorez - whom he has never met, is coming for a visit and this sparks a brilliant idea. She can act as chaperone that afternoon so the boys can woo the girls properly. However, they soon discover that Charley’s aunt has been delayed. At that moment, Lord Fancourt Babberley, a friend involved in college amateur theatricals enters the room, and all their problems are solved. They convince “Babbs” to dress up and pretend to be Charley’s aunt, allowing the boys to pursue their girls, all under the watchful eye of their “chaperone.” Thus begins scene after scene of mistaken identity, lost and returned love, and a bevy of hilarity when Charley’s aunt does arrive and finds another woman established in her place. With the wit of Wilde, the silliness of a Shakespeare comedy and the frivolity of Fawlty, this rollicking play doesn’t take itself too seriously. Charley’s Aunt explores the crazy things we will do for love, and the importance of taking a chance on it when the opportunity presents itself.CHARACTERS - JACK CHESNEY (20-30 Approx.): Student at St. Olde's College, Son of Sir Francis, in love with Kitty.Sets the pace of the play with his energy and confidence.BRASSETT (30-60 Approx.): Manservant to Jack. Put-upon superior butler type, enormouslydignified and always calmly in command of the situation. Indulgent towards the wildness of theyoung, and quietly proud of them.CHARLEY WYKEHAM (20-30 Approx.): Student at St. Olde's College. Best friend to Jack, in love withAmy. A kind of junior partner to Jack, not quite so sure of himself, a little ingenuous, but not a fool.LORD FANCOURT BABBERLEY (20-30 Approx.): Student at St. Olde's College, friend to Jack andCharley. Experienced and gifted comic actor required. He spends most of his time disguised asCharley's aunt but not a brilliant female impersonation. SIR FRANCIS CHESNEY (40-60 Approx.): A Colonel who served in India, father to Jack. A smart man, with a kind heart.STEPHEN SPETTIGUE (45-70 Approx.): Solicitor, uncle to Amy and guardian of Kitty. He is the crusty older man, crabbing the young and making himself ridiculous by indulging in a travesty of youthful love. He is usually furious, but he can be pleasant. DONNA-LUCIA D'ALVADOREZ (40-60 Approx.): A charming lady from Argentina, Aunt to Charley(although they have never met), adopted Aunt of Ela.Donna Lucia is much amused by her impersonator and by the situation he has created. She dominates the scenes where she appears, but her general attitude is benevolent.AMY SPETTIGUE (20-25 Approx.): Proper young lady, love interest of Charley, Niece of StephenSpettigue. Like-able girl, just as quick-witted as the young men, and a little more capable andpractical in overcoming the obstacles to their love affair.KITTY VERDUN (20-25 Approx.): Proper young lady, love interest of Jack, Stephen Spettigue's Ward.Like-able girl, just as quick-witted as the young men, and a little more capable and practical inovercoming the obstacles to their love affair.ELA DELAHAY (20-25 Approx.): Proper young lady, Adopted niece of Donna-Lucia D’Alvadorez.unaffected, pleasant young girl. ...
